Its started to get warm here! been in the 80’s the last couple of days. I was happy with 70’s ugg this is climbing to almost to hot. Well to help SAVE all that water i was dumping on the new garden bed ..i swear it would not stay in the ground! How can seeds sprout if theirs not watteerrr!!! so what do i do :) muhahaha grab some plastic and cover it all! Just like i do with my sprouts inside, make a little greenhouse wannabe thingy and walla, the water stays in :)

ground cover greenhouse?
ground cover greenhouse?

I was tired of trying to water it 3 times a day, with my tiny tiny little watering can ( there is no hose / hook up apparently anymore :( and 8 trips was to many! So as i was checking on my baby stevia plants inside which i have inside a plastic bag to, you know..keep in the water /slaps head with hand… It hit me.

Cover the bed with plastic! As you see that’s just what i did :) two days later the cucumbers and radishes started to sprout and i figured i couldn’t leave the plastic on them. ( its raised in the middle there with sticks stuck in the ground ) I was happy to see them sprouting and i think this helped get the water absorbed deeper into the ground .. hell i don’t know i am just talking out my ass lol like i know anything about gardening! I am learning tho. Soooooooo, here is the garden plot with the new sprouts and the kids sunflowers growing crazy………………Hmmm never mind , i oveasly didn’t take a full picture of the bed WTH! but i do have a shot of the cucumbers coming up :) because im to lazy to go back out,get another pic and upload it :)

cucumbersSo I really really hope that these ones actually live unlike the 6 other plants before them. Those were all started inside, did wonderful, were put outside…and they died ? Ugg i don’t know! I will find out if they thrive this way. Maybe they just do not like to be moved, and not one i can start indoors and move out. Or its just one that i cant keep alive ( like my strawberry /sob ).

All the radishes are sprouting and a few of the beets are sprouting also… no sign of the peppers yet :( I am sure they will pop there heads up, we dropped enough seeds in there that SOMETHING has to take!

Now to the patio and all the greenness back there!

lettuce

we have been chopping it down and eating it! :) its super good, BUT as i was watering this morning and looking over all my plants i realized a few things. One, this plant has a hugely long stock with nothing on it tell the top! They are the ones that i had thinned a few of the larger leafs to eat as it was growing.. they didn’t grow back but the stock keep growing LOL so its like a frig-en tree with leaves at the top! I found it funny :)

Then as i was cleaning the icky wilted dead leaves off the bottom I took a look at the stumps left from the whole bundles of lettuce I had CUT down …there are tiny new leaves growing from it! Will they keep growing and give me new lettuce leaves to eat?Hmmmm i sure hope so!

OHHHHH and they had some visitors < O,o >

IMG_0345

I pulled 6 caterpillars out of the lettuce trays.. Umm ok i really do like caterpillars, i think they are cute as hell but… hmmm in the lettuce makes me a little worried! I will be looking at my lettuce much closer for sure now! So I picked them out and put then in a pot that was off to the side ( the broken mystery plant ) and threw some of the discarded lettuce leaves in there… I don’t know what to do with them, I cant kill them :(

IMG_0339

And then the radishes, they are all doing so good! We have been eating the first crop and watching the second one grow..and the third in the garden bed :) but … this one is hugely tall! lol the radish itself is still pretty small but ..WOW.

IMG_0342

The peas are FINALLY growing tall! Its about time if you ask me :) The carrot tops are looking really good to… wish i could see in the soil tho to see how the carrots them self’s are doing.

The beans are continuing to grow! I threw in some new seeds to replace the couple that didnt make it threw the move outside and the first couple rains…. hmm another one i didnt take a pic of.. ugg

the Peppers are still doing good, not really getting any bigger yet tho :( …and this pic wont download LOL not my day for pictures ppl!

IMG_0344

This pot ( YES the pic works!) has a couple of beans ( because they sprouted and i cant kill anything ) a couple of carrots that had to be thinned out of the main container and…. a mystery plant in the left corner… what is that? I do not know but it can stay and grow :) This is the hoshposh bucket after all. I think i just like the color green :) let it all grow!

IMG_0352

now on to my FAVORIT FAVORIT FAVORIT plants of them all…. my tomaotes!!!!!

the cherry tomato ones are really pumpen them flowers out! Oh its teasing me!

This morning i found the first unopened flowers on the big plants! WOOOT more more more!!!!

IMG_0347

They are bushen out nice :) i did finally put a stick in two of them and tie them up.. the one against the wall is not stacked yet,  I am looking for a big enough stick for it.

I have been picking the new growth off that is starting between the main branches and the stock. I love it green and bushy but lets save all that good growing energy for your tomatoes ok? :)

Well that’s it for now i guess .  In the house i have growing my Stevie plants.. 5 are growing but man they are still just little green sprouts, hmm they take FOREVER to grow! I also received my Valerian and chamomile seeds the other day and planted 9 or each, some of the Valerian sprouted over night! … those were the tiniest tiniest seeds ever!!! no wonder they said 200 per pack! i have no idea how many actually got dropped into each starter pot.

Thats it for now, time to surf the web!

god bless!

Hey Pudd, glad to see the gardens doing well this year, with the economy the way it is, it can help stretch the all mighty buck. The wife puts mulch over her garden bed, it keeps it moist and the weeds down too. The mulch keeeps ground from warming up and drying out and if you put a few inches of the mulch the weeds won’t grow. I’m surprized to hear your cats named after my son, well his nick name anyways. Then again he’s just a big pussy cat too. Say hi to “D” for me and good luck with everything and my God bless you and the family. Oh yea one more thing GO WINGS.
